Promotional video of iPhone 7 in which people use the smartphone even being under heavy rainfall could not fail to impress the users. However, as we found out, there are still some pitfalls to be aware for anyone who is going to buy a new phone from Apple.

What should you do to iPhone 7 if water did get inside

The product description on Apple’s official website indicates that iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were tested in the specially maintained laboratory conditions in accordance with the IEC 60529 standard and the degree of their protection against splashes, water and dust complies with the IP67 index. Meanwhile, it is possible that the microscopic spoilage in production might be enough for the moisture to get inside. What shall we do if it happens?

“Resistance to splashes, water and dust is not a permanent condition and may be reduced by natural wear”, there are such a sentence typed in the iPhone 7 description under a footnote using small print at the bottom of the page of the official Apple website.

We will not argue with the fact that charging of a smartphone after smartphone’s body got in contact with water is an example of misuse and in case of damage the owner of the smartphone shall be guilty. At the same time, Cupertino workers do not explain us how we shall understand when natural wear began to lead to the fact that the device loses its water resistance and it is time to start worrying. But the following passage from the same paragraph can’t fail to surprise us:

“The guarantee doesn’t cover the damage which is as a result of contact with fluid”.

Status of the dustproof and waterproof device which is clearly stated in the promotional materials shall already guarantee that we shall not worry of the forecast of moisture getting inside the smartphone. Meanwhile, Apple decided to entrust the responsibility for all the possible consequences of the design flaws on the users.
